Puppets & Masks
Some masks hide you, but some give you the armour to face the forces of evil. Such are the Cham masks worn during the Cham dance in Tibet and neighbouring regions, and the masks of the Chhau dance, which tells folk stories such as the Ramayana. Speaking of dance, a kathputli performance is a sight to behold. Originating in Rajasthan, it is one of the earliest forms of entertainment, and it has also been used to tackle social problems such as dowry, illiteracy and poor sanitation. These dances look great on the wall, and we assure you they look even better performed live.
